In times of economic crises, women spend more money on cosmetics

During the economic crisis, women try to look attractive and spend more money on cosmetics. This is evidenced by the results of the research company Mintel, analyzed the situation in the cosmetic market of Great Britain in 2007-2008, Lenta.ru reports with reference to The Telegraph.

During this time, according to the company, sales of skin care products increased by 6,7%, and women's perfume - on 4,6%. Total UK cosmetics market grew by 7,4% - to 1,2 billion pounds sterling.

Similar trends were observed during the Great Depression of the 1930's. It reminds the British edition of The Daily Mail, while women bought cosmetics that when a job looks better than other contenders for the post. This phenomenon later called Lipstick Factor - "lipstick factor".
